"I signed up for the MNjcc's Commit to be Fit program because I truly needed a 'boost' to reach my goals, and I wasn't disappointed. At the close of the 3 month program, I had met my goals and lost a total of 23 pounds. I feel much more confident and I'm enjoying fashion again. My meetings with Zoe, the nutritionist at MNjcc, were very valuable, and made losing the weight much easier than I thought possible. I had heard stories of women in menopause and how it's a given that you get a 'spare tire' and that your metabolism slows down. Zoe showed me that I could speed up my metabolism with different foods. She also provided many great recipes and tips, and even went shopping with me one day to show me how to make better choices and how to read and really understand food labels. Included in the program was my own personal trainer, Paul, who I met with every week. Paul was great, and infused humour into every session, while making me work my butt off, literally. He was very supportive and having been trained in Kinesiology, he was very mindful of my previous injuries and was very interested in working concurrently with my physiotherapist to optimize my training. Irina Judin, the program leader, held semi-monthly meetings for the participants, and by agreement these meetings morphed into a bonus exercise class.
Also included in the program was a series of 10 Gravity classes, which are an amazing workout on specialized machines that utilize your body weight and strength. A small class and one personal trainer always guaranteed a dynamite workout. At the beginning and middle of the program, I had a thorough fitness assessment which helped to monitor my progress. All in all, I would highly recommend this program for anyone wanting to lose weight, get fit, and do so in a very supportive environment."
